Technica provides high-quality and fast turnaround OEM optical engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and/or integration services for customers who wish to have a customized Fiber Bragg Grating based service.
The process begins with a Fiber Bragg Grating made by Technica. Then, our company makes its portfolio of its in-house state-of-the-art technologies available for building on and around the FBG to meet the customer’s specific requirements.
Whether the FBG is to be built-up into a custom array, into a special cable sensor, into a packaged strain, temperature, pressure, angle, displacement, or other type of sensor, or into an optical communications cassette together with other optical devices according to our customer’s design, we are well prepared to manufacture!
Our contract manufacturing services include the following processes:

Optical connectorization:
We terminate standard smf fibers with FC/UPC, FC/APC, SC/UPD, SC/APC, LC/APC, E-2000 and other optical connectors.
We terminate PM fibers aligning the optical connector to the desired axis.
We terminate specialty fibers of various core diameters.
We also apply connectors to FBGs and FBG Arrays packaged into 900 micron loose tubing, into 0.7mm to 2mm Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymers (GFRP), into 2mm to 3mm Armored Cables, and into Steel Cables.

Fusion splicing:
We splice standard smf fibers.
We splice PM fibers taking into account axis alignment.
We splice and package specialty fibers of various core diameters.

Fiber and cable processing:
We specialize in custom fiber lengths stripping and coating (or recoating) of acrylate, polyimide, gold, GFRP, and other materials in length ranges far beyond standard available technologies.
We provide fiber processing and annealing services to generate FBGs stable to 800C.
Specialty laser FBG writing:
We provide specialty laser FBG writing and burn-in services to meet our most demanding customers’ requirements.
We manufacture low reflectivity to ultra-high reflectivity FBGs.
We manufacture ultra-low cryogenic temperature FBGs.
We manufacture regenerated FBGs (RFBGs) stable to the temperature of 800C.


Phase Mask Design:
We design phase masks to write specialized Fiber Bragg Gratings that meet unusual and demanding applications. Single or multiple FBGs within the same phase mask, chirped FBGs, Long Period Gratings, and unusual FBG wavelengths are well within our growing range of manufacturing capabilities.
Optical cassette and device assembly:
We provide OEM assembly and integration services, often achieving major labor and logistics savings to our customers. Operating under Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) we assemble, integrate, and test our customers’ FBG based optical devices, sensors, or optical cassette assemblies according to their specifications, truly helping them to achieve faster premium quality turnkey solutions.


Quality testing and inspection:
We follow our customers’ test and inspection requirements and make recommendations, if applicable, to ensure that our OEM delivered products meet or exceed their expectations. Our state-of-the-art test and measurement equipment includes video microscopes with machine vision software, spectrum analysis test equipment, mechanical strength test equipment, temperature and humidity cycling oven chambers, launch lasers at many wavelengths of interest, and an ISO9001 quality system for a repeatable and reliable gated quality process ensuring that we meet or exceed our customers’ expectations.
